Special Needs Consulting
Special needs children can benefit greatly from use of customized digital media targeted to their learning and behavioral needs. Media Mamas offers in-home consulting for parents of special needs students. We create custom materials for your family’s specific needs and provide instruction on implementation with your child.
Who might benefit?
Families with children who are exhibiting social, behavioral or communication difficulties at home or school.
Families with children who have special needs such as autism and Asperger’s syndrome, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, communication disorders or developmental delays.
What services are offered?
Christine Dunbar, MS CCC-SLP, a licensed and certified Speech Language Pathologist with over ten years of experience working with special needs students, will come to your home and consult with you on your family’s personal needs. Through observation and parent report, customized materials will be created to address challenges you are currently facing with your child in the areas of behavior, communication, social interaction and other learning areas. Training and implementation of the materials with your student will be provided for parent and child’s on-going use. Follow-up visits are available as needed to update and expand materials.
Types of materials vary based on student and family need. These include, but are not limited to the following:
- Video lessons
- Power point “talking books”
- Personalized printed picture books
- Visual schedules
- Visual cue cards or reminders
- Social stories
- Interactive computer materials
- Assistance with AAC devices
Rates:
$60 per hour in-home consulting
$100 for up to three custom digital media materials created
Discounted rates on additional materials created as needed.
